"I’ve Always Been a Creative. I Just Took the Long Way To Get Here."
Kristen Harper is an artist, designer, maker, professional overthinker and the creative brain behind Harper House Studio.
After more than 20 years working as an interior decorator, followed by a few career detours through fitness and real estate, Kristen eventually found her way back to where she probably belonged all along—making things... lots and lots of things.
These days, that might mean standing in front of a canvas, designing a slightly inappropriate greeting card, making jewellery surrounded by an unreasonable number of gemstone beads, or coming up with a new idea at 2 a.m. when any sensible person would be asleep.
Her work doesn't fit neatly into one box—and she likes it that way. Welcome to her boldly colourful, occasionally inappropriate but never-boring, corner of the world.
Meet the Studio Assistants
No creative studio is complete without a little supervision. Hans and Macie are Kristen's ever-present studio helpers, quality-control inspectors and occasional productivity destroyers. Whether they’re keeping her company during late-night sessions, investigating whatever she might be working on, or simply reminding her that it’s probably time to get up from her desk, they’re rarely far away.
Their actual contribution to the creative process is debatable.
Their commitment to studio management, however, is unwavering.
