Yes. Lulu & Hew jewellery is handcrafted in small batches rather than mass produced. That means your piece has been made by actual human hands—which are occasionally covered in paint, but we try not to hold that against them.

I use a mix of semi-precious gemstones, glass and seed beads, along with metals including brass, copper, bronze, silver-tone and gunmetal components. Materials vary by design and are listed in the individual product description.

Do you use genuine semi-precious stones?Yes. Many Lulu & Hew designs feature genuine semi-precious gemstones. Some stones may be dyed, treated or enhanced to achieve particular colours or finishes, and I identify these in the product description when applicable.

All of our earring hooks are nickel-free, as nickel is one of the most common causes of metal sensitivity. Other materials vary between designs, so while I can’t guarantee every piece will be suitable for every sensitivity, materials are listed in the product description. If you have a specific allergy or sensitivity, please contact me before ordering.

Yes, they can—and that's completely normal. Brass and copper naturally develop a patina over time as they react with air, moisture, skin and other environmental factors. Some people love the aged look, while others prefer to polish their jewellery periodically to restore its shine.

Keep jewellery away from water, perfume, lotions and household chemicals whenever possible. Remove it before swimming, showering or exercising and store it somewhere dry when you're not wearing it. A soft jewellery cloth can be used for gentle cleaning.

Plated finishes need a little extra TLC. Avoid water, perfumes, lotions and chemicals, and don't use abrasive cleaners or polishing compounds. Gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth after wearing it and store it separately to help protect the finish.

Measure your wrist snugly with a flexible measuring tape, then check the sizing information on the product listing. If you're between sizes or unsure what to choose, contact me before ordering and I'll help you figure it out.

Our Morse Code bracelets feature an adjustable silicone bead and measure approximately 12 inches, allowing them to fit most wrists. If you prefer shorter ends, the bracelet can easily be customized at home. Simply tie a new knot on each side, making sure they are evenly spaced, trim away the excess cord, and carefully use a flame for about one second to seal each cut end and help prevent fraying.

Handmade jewellery should last with proper care, but life happens. If you experience a problem with one of your pieces, contact me with a photo and some information about what happened. I'll let you know whether it can be repaired and what options are available.
