Original Art FAQs

Are all of your paintings original?

Yes. Every original painting is created by Kristen Harper and is one of a kind. Once an original is sold, that exact painting is gone for good—although selected works may also be available as art prints.

What materials do you use in your artwork?

I work primarily with acrylic paint and water based inks, building each piece through layers of colour, texture and mark-making. Materials vary from piece to piece, so you’ll find specific details in each artwork’s product description.

Are your paintings signed?

Yes. Original paintings are signed on the front or back by Kristen, depending on the piece. Additional information about the piece may also be included on the back.

Do your paintings come ready to hang?

Most original paintings arrive ready to hang unless otherwise stated in the product description. Because framing and presentation can vary by piece, please check the individual listing for details.

Do you accept commissions?

Yes, on a limited basis. If you love my style but have a particular size, colour palette or feeling in mind, get in touch through the Contact page and tell me what you’re thinking. Commissions are still created in my artistic style rather than as exact copies of another piece.

Can I purchase prints of your original artwork?

Selected original paintings are available as art prints. Not every painting is reproduced, so check the Art Prints collection to see what is currently available.

Will the colours look exactly the same as they do online?

I do my best to photograph artwork as accurately as possible, but colours can vary slightly depending on your screen and lighting. Original artwork also has texture, depth and subtle colour variations that can be difficult to capture completely in a photograph.

Can I see your artwork in person?

Absolutely. If you’d like to see a particular piece in person before purchasing, please contact me and we can make arrangements for a private viewing.

How do I care for my original artwork?

Keep your artwork away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive moisture and extreme temperature changes. For routine cleaning, a gentle dusting with a clean, soft, dry cloth is usually all that’s needed. Avoid household cleaners or chemicals on the painted surface.

How is original artwork packaged and shipped?

Original artwork is carefully wrapped and protected for its journey to you. Packaging varies depending on the size and type of piece, with extra care taken to protect corners, surfaces and framing where applicable.

What happens if my artwork arrives damaged?

Please contact me as soon as possible and include photographs of the damaged artwork and packaging. I’ll work with you to determine the best solution. Keep all original packaging until the issue has been resolved.

Can I return an original painting?

Because original artwork is one of a kind, different return conditions may apply than for other Harper House Studio products. Please review the Return & Refund Policy before purchasing, or contact me if you have questions about a particular piece.
